Srinagar, March 05 (KNO) : Kashmir Valley on Tuesday observed a complete shutdown following the call given by Valley traders against banning Jama’at-e-Islami and recent Ordinance passed by the Government of India. The shutdown call was jointly given by Kashmir Traders Manufacturing Federation (KTMF), Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) and Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) and transporters during a presser at a local hotel here. Following the call given by valley traders and transporters, all the shops and business establishments remained closed while as the traffic was also thin on the roads. Eyewitnesses said that a large contingent of police and other government forces were deployed in Old City areas here throughout the day to prevent any protests. Moreover, the trade body headed by KTMF and KEA Chairman Muhammad Yasin Khan staged a protest against the ban on Jamaat and attack on State’s special status. Carrying banners, traders assembled near Ganta Ghar here and chanted slogans in favour of Jamaat. According to KNO Correspondent, the Valley traders while talking to media persons demanded immediate revocation of ban on JeI. They said arrests of religious leaders must be stopped forthwith while as the ban imposed on religious and social organization must be revoked.
